MES (Manufacturing Execution System)

What is MES?

MES stands for Manufacturing Execution System. It sits between high-level planning tools (such as ERP) and the physical work happening on the factory floor. It monitors, tracks, and controls production processes in real time. And, helps manage scheduling, machine performance, batch tracking, and overall production flow.

MES provides visibility into manufacturing operations. It ensures that products are made according to specifications and helps monitor key metrics such as output, downtime, and quality checks. In many industries, MES supports regulatory requirements by keeping accurate records of production activities.

However, MES systems typically focus on machine and process data rather than guiding workers step-by-step. They provide oversight but do not always capture the detailed human activity that occurs during tasks.

How this applies to WorkfloPlus

WorkfloPlus complements MES by digitising the human side of manufacturing execution. It guides workers through instructions, inspections, checks, and tasks while capturing evidence at every step. This creates a complete view of what happens during production — both machine data and human data.

WorkfloPlus strengthens the execution layer beneath MES, making production more consistent and traceable. Together, they help organisations achieve higher quality, improved productivity, and deeper operational insight.
